About the Project
The necessity to increase digital literacy, particularly internet privacy awareness in order to safely navigate the web has become imperative. Privacy Persona, a quiz that assesses user’s knowledge on internet privacy skills, works to confront these increasing concerns. Following the user through a narrative adventure acting as an allegory for the web, allows for users to explore their online habits through self-assessment.
Method
Studies in self assessment, social categorization theory, the rise and impact of quiz taking, interactive learning, and the relationship individuals develop with digital spaces were explored in order to situate this project within the digital humanities. Studies that explore web user archetypes such as Charset and Bedard's, Meyen et al.'s and Dehling et al.'s are the foundation for preexisting scholarship and helped develop the quiz results and questionnaire. The project was coded on Visual Studio using JavaScript, HTML/CSS and debugged with Claude AI. The quiz is currently hosted on Github pages for open public access. My goals for this project are that the user interaction and self-assessment of the deliverable will encourage discourse and topic awareness in a growing digital era, and inspire creative scholarly projects for others.
